General eligibility:
- New enough:
- Long enough:
- Other problems:
Policy compliance:
- Adequate sourcing: - 2 items in the list of awards and honors need refs; DOB is unreferenced and should probably be omitted (or the day and month dropped) per WP:DOB; no ref for her American citizenship
- Neutral:
- Free of copyright violations, plagiarism, and close paraphrasing:
- Other problems: - It'd be good to see the little things fixed: the quotations don't need ellipses before them; the dashes should be em- or en-dashes and en-dashes in year-ranges; "Hawaiʻi" should either have an ʻokina in it (use {{okina}} or copy/paste from here) or nothing, but not an apostrophe; some refs need their
|work=
or|publisher=
set (and removed from the|title=
) and dates where known; the all-caps journal paper title should be reduced to sentence case.
Hook eligibility:
- Cited:
- Interesting:
- Other problems: - More linking in hooks ALT0 and ALT2 would be good.
QPQ: None required. |
Overall: @Tarselli: I slightly prefer the first hook, but I'm happy to approve any of the 3 if the sourcing items are addressed. (I'm happy to do the "little things" myself if you want.) Nice work — it's always good to see more women in STEM turn blue :) I note you're a Wikimedia Fellow; I'm happy to wait until you're back on the clock before the edits come in. I'm not in any hurry — good work takes time. Please {{ping}} me to get my attention with any replies. OwenBlacker (talk; please {{ping}} me in replies) 01:52, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- Comment: OwenBlacker, Tarselli hasn't edited Wikipedia since December 17. However, Mary Mark Ockerbloom made some edits to Darlene Lim over the weekend; I don't know whether these might have addressed the issues you raised, or if Mary Mark Ockerbloom might be willing to address them if you'd rather finish the review, which making the "little things" edits might preclude you from doing. In any event, I think this needs to proceed on the assumption that Tarselli may not be returning in a timely fashion. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:50, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: Thank you, BlueMoonset - I never got back to these edits, as I've recently started a new job and this is our busy season 'til March. My apologies, but thanks to OwenBlacker and Mary Mark for their feedback and contributions. Tarselli (talk) 19:57, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset and Tarselli: since you pinged me, I've done a complete re-read on the page, addressing various issues. I'm delighted to see a page about her! Tarselli, there are a couple of outstanding concerns that you could help with. 1) The facts for the proposed hooks are not clearly stated and cited in the article. One way to address this would be that you could add a couple of sentences to the lead and add citations to them. 2) if you can cite a source for her birth date, please do, and then we can restore that information. 3) Can you cite a source for "she has published fifty-nine scientific articles"? Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 00:57, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: Hello, @BlueMoonset, Mary Mark Ockerbloom, and OwenBlacker: and thanks for all your feedback to improve Darlene's page and get it posted to DYK! I have made the following edits, following suggestions above: cleaned up lede and oriented it to hook 1, added Okina to all Hawaiʻian references, added 3 new references from 2019, and deleted non-verifiable information for birth date and publications. Please have one more quick look, and consider moving to press. Tarselli (talk) 16:52, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset and OwenBlacker: IIt looks like Tarselli has addressed the outstanding concerns, so someone should be able to review this now. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 17:58, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Tarselli and Mary Mark Ockerbloom: Thanks for the ping. Everything looks good with 1 single exception: The reference to Lim's nationalities does not mention her nationality. If you remove the statement, then I'm happy to approve. — OwenBlacker (talk; please {{ping}} me in replies) 17:41, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi again, OwenBlacker, I fixed the misleading references. In Ref 1, her U.S. citizenship is confirmed in HuffPo interview, along with her parents emigrating from Singapore. In (new) Reference 7 - Science 2017 - she is referred to as a Canadian citizen. So, she either has dual citizenship - US and Canada - or just U.S. now, but at least the references are more clear. Sufficient, or did you have other concerns? Tarselli (talk) 01:09, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Tarselli: You're right; somehow I completely overlooked "newly minted US citizen". Looks good to me; I'm happy to approve. Great work! — OwenBlacker (talk; please {{ping}} me in replies) 09:23, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
